2026 Brazilian Moto2 - Qualifying Results

Moto2 qualifying was shuffled onto the Sunday race programme after the delays caused by a hole in the track appearing on Saturday. Finally on track to qualify, the delayed sessions saw Daniel Holgado make the most of his extra track time to perfect his lap in Q1, going even faster in Q2 for pole position.  

The CFMoto Inde Aspar rider was fastest in the first session after a push and those laps proved valuable as he was instantly on pace in the second session.

Perfecting his lap, the number 96 finished with a best of 1:20.711s - a new lap record at a new track for the class - a fifth pole in the class for the Spaniard.

It was his team-mate who pushed Holgado the hardest, with David Alonso, who had gone straight to Q2 in second, beginning to make up for a tough opening round in Thailand, finishing just 0.017s on the Kalex.

The final front row slot went To Alex Escrig. The Forward Racing rider continued to be close to his pre-season form where he topped the Jerez test, showing how far he and the team have come with the previously unfancied chassis to place third, himself just 0.043s off the pole time in a close session.

Manuel Gonzalez was a close fourth, but cut a frustrated figure - his final lap on the Liqui Moly Dynavolt IntactGP bike saw the 2025 runner-up his every bump and bubble on the track, visblly wobbling and shaking around after starting his final run with red sectors.

Lap gone, Gonzalez crossed the line hitting his bike in frustration.

Fifth went to an impressive run from QJMotor rookie Angel Piqueras with Collin Veijer climbing to fifth heading into the last two minutes, only losing one place as the lap held on for sixth for the Red Bull KTM Ajo rider.

Alonso Lopez was just three thousandths slower in seventh for Italjet Gesini, with Celestino Vietti right behind in the standings in eighth for SpeedRS - the Italian will be the top Boscoscuro on the grid.

Mario Aji continued his strong start to the season in ninth for Idemitsu Honda Team Asia, qith Friday fastest rider, Tony Arbolino, completing the top ten for Fantic Racing.

Q1 Holgado cements progression with best lap, Aguis struggles

The first session saw Holgado and Joe Roberts (16th) tied on times for a spell, before the American pulled ahead thanks to a better second lap.

A final determined run saw the Aspar bike lead the way into Q2, with what was a new lap record at the time.

Roberts progressed in second, joined by Barry Baltus (14th) and Sergio Garcia(15th).

Ayumu Sasaki came close to displacing the lead four, just missing out in fifth for 19th on the grid for the Idrofoglia team. His fellow countryman, rookie Taiyo Furusato was just behind on track and on the timesheets in sixth for Honda Team Asia.

Zonta van den Goorbergh was the last rider on a last lap that could have made a claim for the top four before running wide, leaving the Idrofoglia rider eighth.

Dennis Foggia, back in Moto2 to replace the injured Luca Lunetta at the SpeedRS team, was ninth in Q1.

Aron Canet also missed out in eleventh for Elf Marc VDS, as did Moto3 champion Jose Antonio Rueda in 13th.

The last rider was a previous race winner Senna Agius. Already having a tough weekend after a member of the crew passed away, the Australian struggled for grip on the Dynavolt bike, the only rider not to finish with a 1: 21s lap.
