Honda hits hard at Gillman as Webster, Larwood and Fisher top ProMX podiums

2026 Australian ProMX Championship
Round Three – Gillman, SA

Gillman hosted Round Three of the 2026 Australian ProMX Championship over the weekend, with defending MX1 champion Kyle Webster taking a narrow overall victory for Honda Racing Australia after splitting the day’s two motos with championship leader Jed Beaton.

Kyle Webster

Beaton had earlier topped the MX1 Superpole Shootout for Monster Energy CDR Yamaha and then answered Webster’s opening-moto win with a commanding Moto Two performance, but Webster’s 1-2 scorecard was enough to edge the round by two-points. It also trimmed Beaton’s championship advantage slightly, the Yamaha rider leaving South Australia 12-points clear of Webster ahead of Round Four.

Honda Racing Australia was the dominant force across the round, with Webster heading the MX1 overall, Alex Larwood producing a perfect 1-1 result in Pirelli MX2 on home-state soil, and Heath Fisher sweeping both Maxxis MX3 motos to move himself firmly into title contention. In KTM Group MX65 Futures, Ryder Madafiglio and Ollie Cale split the moto wins, with Madafiglio’s speed and consistency enough to secure the overall.

Yarrive Konsky – Honda Racing Australia Team Director

“Ultimately our competition has steadily improved and we still have work to do. Winning all three classes is something we should be proud of, but none of it came easily. Alex is riding incredibly well. Kayd impressed me enormously this weekend, his resilience and courage changed how I perceive him as a racer. Ryder is finding his way back to form. Heath has followed the process we laid out, but physically he still has another level to reach.

“Our 450 program requires the most focus right now. Wilson knows fitness is the biggest factor and we need to stay patient because I know how talented he is. Kyle and the team also need to work through some areas so he can race with the same raw speed and aggression that delivered back-to-back championships and standout rides at the Motocross of Nations.”

Kawasaki MX1

The MX1 Superpole Shootout again underlined Beaton’s raw pace, the championship leader producing a 1m51.248 to claim top honours by almost seven-tenths over Webster. Aaron Tanti was third, just over a second from Beaton’s benchmark, while Wilson Todd completed the leading quartet ahead of Nathan Crawford.

Kyle Webster

That pace did not immediately translate into the opening moto, however, with Webster striking first for Honda Racing Australia. The defending champion won by 5.461-seconds from team-mate Todd, giving Honda a 1-2 result, while Beaton was third, only a further 0.974-seconds behind Todd. Tanti and Crawford completed a very tight top-five, the first five riders covered by less than nine-seconds after 14 laps.

Regan Duffy was sixth on the Berry Sweet Yamaha, a lonely 48-seconds from the win but clear of KTM Factory Racing’s Zachary Watson and Pro Honda Racing’s Liam Jackson. Levi Rogers and Todd Waters rounded out the top ten.

Beaton’s underlying pace was still clear in Moto One, with his 1m52.520 on lap two standing as the fastest race lap of the day. That suggested the Yamaha rider had the pace to win, but Webster’s track position and race execution gave Honda the early advantage.

Beaton made sure there would be no repeat in Moto Two. Webster grabbed the holeshot, but Beaton took control and stretched away to win by 14.682-seconds, with Webster second and Crawford third. Todd finished fourth, just ahead of Tanti, while Dean Ferris brought the Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki home sixth after a frustrating opening moto that ended with a mechanical problem.

The 1-2 / 3-1 split left Webster and Beaton separated by only two-points for the round, Webster taking the overall on 47-points to Beaton’s 45. Todd was third overall on 40-points, ahead of Crawford on 36 and Tanti on 34.

Kyle Webster
Kyle Webster – P1

“I can’t remember it being this hard and slippery underneath. They didn’t rip it as deep as they usually do. Overall it was great, but definitely not the usual Gilman track we are used to. I’m happy to take the win, but we still have work to do,” Webster admitted. “The speed has been there all season, but mistakes have hurt me. I probably rode too conservatively this weekend trying not to make errors, and that stopped me from riding naturally and aggressively.”

Wilson Todd
Wilson Todd – P3

“It’s my best result of the year, but I’m still frustrated because I know where I want to be. Fitness doesn’t come back overnight after injury. We’re improving, but there’s still a lot of work ahead.”

Zac Watson
Zac Watson – P7

“My riding was a bit mediocre today, and the results aren’t quite where I would like them to be. In saying that, there are some positives to take away from the round, but we need to iron out making my way forward a little cleaner – I think in Moto 2, I took a bit too long to pass some riders, which cost me maybe three or four positions. If I can tidy that up and get a little more aggressive for Round 4, then I’ll be happy.”

Wilson Todd
Todd Waters – P8

“It wasn’t a good weekend for me. Average starts – I was around fifth to 10th place – but then I went down in Moto 1 and picked it up outside the top 10. It was a super-hard track to pass on, so I didn’t make too many passes. I struggled with making a charge here under the conditions, but just in general I couldn’t get in a flow from the get-go. So, no big crashes, and that’s the main thing for me, coming back in one piece, and now I’m really looking forward to Toowoomba. I think my bike is set-up really well for there, so I guess I just have to put this one behind me and keep charging!”

In the championship, Beaton still leads on 145-points, but Webster reduced the margin to 12-points with his Gillman overall. Tanti remains third on 106, only three-points ahead of Todd, while Waters sits fifth on 88.

Pirelli MX2

Alex Larwood made the most of South Australian home territory with a dominant performance in Pirelli MX2, taking two convincing moto wins for Honda Racing Australia and extending his championship lead over KTM Racing Team’s Byron Dennis.

Alex Larwood

Larwood controlled the opening moto from the front and won by 15.725-seconds over Dennis, with Dylan Walsh third for KTM Australia. Noah Ferguson was fourth for Monster Energy Yamalube Yamaha, while Ryder Kingsford and Kayd Kingsford completed a strong Honda Racing Australia presence inside the top six.

Dylan Walsh

Larwood’s 1m54.158 fastest lap in Moto One was another marker of the margin he had over the field, with Dennis the only rider able to keep the damage within 20-seconds at the finish.

Moto Two briefly looked as though it might produce a different storyline, with Ryder Kingsford leading the opening lap. Larwood quickly reasserted himself, though, and once back at the front he again built a comfortable margin. He won by 13.380-seconds from Ryder Kingsford, with Dennis third, Souya Nakajima fourth for Monster Energy Yamalube Yamaha, and Ferguson fifth.

Madoc Dixon, Ryan Alexanderson and Kayd Kingsford rounded out the top eight in the second moto, while Walsh slipped to tenth after his opening-moto podium.

Byron Dennis

Larwood’s perfect 50-point round gave him an eight-point gain over Dennis, who finished second overall on 42-points. Ryder Kingsford was third overall on 38-points, ahead of Ferguson on 34 and Walsh on 31.

The result moved Larwood to 130-points in the championship, ten-points clear of Dennis on 120. Kayd Kingsford remains right in the hunt on 111, with Walsh close behind on 109, while Ferguson sits fifth on 92, just one-point clear of Ryder Kingsford.

Alex Larwood – P1

“It’s nice, it’s all coming together. The bike, the team, everything. It’s easy for people to forget the injuries I’ve had in the past, but I’ve been fortunate to have great people stick by me. It’s nice to reward everyone like this. It was a perfect weekend in my home state,” he added. “Having family and friends there made it special. There have been plenty of highs and lows, and to do it on Mother’s Day with Mum there, she hasn’t missed many races in my career, made it even more meaningful.”

Byron Dennis
Byron Dennis – P2

“We stacked some good points at Gillman, tried to put our best foot forward, and ended with 2-3 moto scores. Both the riding and the bike felt good, just a couple of little tweaks needed on my side, and we’ll get to the top step!”

Dylan Walsh
Dylan Walsh – P5

“It was a tough day! I had an average opening Moto to begin with – it was just alright – but in Moto 2, I got caught up in a first turn crash, which, on a track like this, makes it hard to pass. It is what it is, so we’ll shift focus to the next one in Toowoomba.”

Kayd Kingsford suffered a training incident the previous Wednesday, with a broken collarbone requiring immediate surgery despite only days to recover. He bravely lined up to race at Gillman, rewarded with a precious 28 points.

Kayd Kingsford
Kayd Kingsford – P6

“I didn’t know what to expect. I rode conservatively in practice and qualifying, just trying to get comfortable. The pain was real. This weekend tested me. Honestly, I learned a lot about myself. The team physios were incredible, my family were amazing, and we salvaged important points. We’re still in the championship fight and there are positives to take away.”

Maxxis MX3

Heath Fisher gave his Maxxis MX3 title hopes a major lift at Gillman, turning a 37-point deficit into a much more manageable 22-point gap after sweeping both motos for Honda Racing Australia.

Heath Fisher

Fisher came into the round fifth in the standings but left South Australia second, leapfrogging Riley Burgess, Jack Deveson and Jackson Fuller in the process. Hayden Draper still holds the red plate, but Fisher’s clean sweep ensured the championship picture looks considerably tighter heading into Round Four.

The opening moto was Fisher’s first statement of the day. He won by 2.662-seconds over Draper, with Burgess third, Seth Thomas fourth and Deveson fifth. Seth Morrow was sixth, while Fuller was seventh, leaving Fisher to take a full 25-points while several key rivals split the remaining podium and top-five positions.

Fisher was even stronger in Moto Two. He won by 4.575-seconds over Fuller, with Cooper Rowe third, Morrow fourth and Corey Eisel fifth. Deveson finished sixth, while Draper could only recover to eighth after a poor start and an incident in which he clipped the rear of Deveson’s bike.

That second-moto result was the key championship swing. Fisher banked another 25-points, while Draper’s eighth place was worth 13, cutting 12-points from the lead in a single moto.

Fisher’s 1-1 gave him the round maximum of 50-points. Fuller was second overall on 36-points, one-point ahead of Draper, while Morrow and Deveson completed the round top-five.

Heath Fisher
Heath Fisher

“We haven’t stopped racing or training. I’ve done six races before and during the nationals trying to get up to speed as quickly as possible. We still aren’t where we want to be physically, I got tired in both motos, but I’m happy with the direction we’re heading. We still have ten point-scoring races remaining, and while we’ve moved to second in the championship, there’s still a gap to first. We have a plan and we’ll keep building.”

Draper still leads the MX3 championship on 130-points, but Fisher is now second on 108, only two-points ahead of Burgess. Fuller has moved to 96, with Deveson fifth on 91.

KTM Group MX65 Futures

In KTM Group MX65 Futures, Ryder Madafiglio and Ollie Cale shared the moto wins, but Madafiglio’s 1-2 scorecard proved enough to claim the overall ahead of Cale’s 5-1 result.

Ryder Madafiglio

Madafiglio was untouchable in Moto One, taking his Husqvarna to a 15.663-second victory over Blade Regan, with Rowdy Rabjones third. Hudson Francis, Cale and Stella Harding completed the top six, while Madafiglio also set the fastest lap of the race with a 2m14.768.

Moto Two delivered the response from Cale. The KTM rider took control and won by 9.588-seconds, while Madafiglio recovered to second ahead of Francis. Joe Thurlby was fourth, Flynn Burgess fifth and Regan sixth.

Even in defeat, Madafiglio again showed his pace by setting the fastest lap of Moto Two, a 2m14.990 on lap five, which was quicker than Cale’s best of 2m16.753.

Madafiglio left Gillman with 47-points, six clear of Cale on 41. Francis completed the overall podium on 38-points, narrowly ahead of Regan on 37, with Thurlby fifth on 32. Harding was sixth overall on 24-points.
