New Zealand’s Woodville Grand Prix cancelled
New Zealand’s Woodville Grand Prix was cancelled over the weekend due to extreme weather, with Saturday’s main track racing cancelled before the plug was pulled for Sunday as well, with conditions not improving.
New Zealand’s Woodville Grand Prix cancelledWoodville MXGP official statement:
“After significant rain overnight which has added to an already waterlogged track, the difficult decision to cancel Woodville MXGP has been made. Rider safety comes first, and unfortunately the track conditions do not allow racing. We know how disappointing this is for everyone involved, unfortunately the weather gods did not play ball.”

With the Dakar Rally run and won less than two weeks ago in Saudi Arabia, where KTM’s Luciano Benavides took top honours, the Saudi Baja is now hosting the FIM Bajas World Cup riders in the city of Ha’il.
30 motorcycles and six quads will set off for a new season of racing with FIM Bajas World Cup titles at stake.
Mohammed Al-Balooshi (KTM) is the defending champion and has won the title on four occasions. The Emirati will be eager to defend his crown against teammate and rival Rafic Eid (KTM).
The Saudi Baja kicks off this weekend – Image by _edophotoYoung Alex McInnes (KTM) is the only registered Junior rider on this first Baja of the year but he will, undoubtedly, be seeking overall success. Also on the entry list are German rider Philippe Horleman (KTM), Abdulla Lanjawi (Kove) and Martin Chalmers, also on a Kove.
There will be 30 motorcycles in the FIM category, including one Junior, seven Veterans, and two Women: Joanna Modrzewska (Duust Husqvarna) and Kuwaiti rider Sarah Khuraibet.
As was the case last year, the Saudi Baja’s headquarters will be located at the Millennium Hotel in Ha’il, while the service park, start, finish and parc fermé will be at Ha’il University.
On Wednesday morning (January 28th), competitors will undergo administrative checks at the Millennium Hotel and technical checks at the service park.
Competitors will be honoured as they take to the starting podium in Al-Maghwat from 12.30hrs on Thursday before tackling a 6.25km Prologue from 15.00hrs.
The results of the Prologue will, as usual, determine the starting order for the opening 242km special stage, which will begin in the early morning of January 30th.
On January 31st, competitors will tackle a second special stage of 151km before taking to the podium and attending the awards’ ceremony in Al-Maghwat in the evening.
Moto Wrap is brought to you weekly by DunlopGautier Paulin confirmed with Tenere Yamaha Rally Team for Africa Eco Race
Motocross legend Gautier Paulin has joined Alessandro Botturi in the Ténéré Yamaha Rally Team, in partnership with Riders for Health (powered by Two Wheels for Life), to compete in the Africa Eco Race onboard the Ténéré 700 Rally which wraps up February 7.
Paulin’s first motorcycle rally raid experience was as a guest rider on the Ténéré Yamaha Rally Team bike at the 2025 Carta Rallye, where he finished third overall and secured the class victory.
The 35-year-old is no stranger to the Ténéré 700 Rally and has been working with the team over the last few months to help develop the race bike.
Gautier Paulin – Ténéré Yamaha Rally Team
“I am so excited for this new chapter in my career. Five years ago, I stopped racing motocross professionally, but my passion for racing has never gone away, and I have been a fan of rally raid since I watched the Dakar with my father as a child. Therefore, when I had the opportunity through the Ténéré Yamaha Rally Team to help develop the new race bike, I immediately said, “Yes!” Then they invited me to take part in the Carta Rallye earlier in the year, and I was hooked. Rally raid is completely different to an MXGP race; instead of going flat out for 45 minutes, you have to manage your pace, stamina, and much more for over 6,000 km in the AER. I am under no illusions about how difficult this will be, and while I know my riding level is high, my navigation skills still need improvement. They say you need to complete 15,000 km of roadbook training before you are ready for a rally raid. I have done only 1,000-2,000 km, but the team and my teammate, Alessandro, have been fantastic at getting me up to speed. I can’t thank them enough, especially Alessandro, for all of their help. This will be a very steep learning curve for me, and I am there to support Alessandro in any way I can, and I cannot wait to get started!”
Additionally, he has benefited from his teammate Botturi’s years of experience, with the Italian helping Paulin get up to speed on navigation and the other requirements to become a rally raid rider. The Frenchman has competed in the Africa Eco Race (AER) before, winning the 2024 edition in the car category.
Botturi, a multiple Dakar finisher and two-time winner of the AER in 2019 and 2020, is looking to bounce back from a heartbreaking finish at last year’s edition, where he was leading the rally until the last few kilometres, when netting became caught up in his wheels. He had to stop to remove it, and the time lost meant he agonisingly missed out on the victory by just 26 seconds.
Alessandro Botturi – Ténéré Yamaha Rally Team
“Having someone like Gautier join the team is incredible. His riding level is off the charts, but it is not easy to transition from motocross to rally raid, where pace is just one of the key factors. He has been incredible in testing, and it has been a pleasure working with him on his roadbook and navigation training. He has been fully committed to every step of the process, and I believe his potential to become a leading rally raid rider is there for all to see. Personally, I feel fitter and stronger than ever, and I am more prepared than ever before. I aim to bounce back from last year’s disappointment, where I only lost in the final few kilometres and try to secure my third victory at the event, the first for the team, and the first for the Ténéré!”
The duo will be joined at the AER by 12 Ténéré Spirit Experience (TSE) riders, who compete in the race alongside the official team, including Kevin Gallas, who rode the Ténéré to victory at the recent Carta Rallye, plus Antonio Maio and Mike Weidemann, who both won stages at the event.
Nicholas Charlier, who won stage five of the 2025 edition of the AER, will also return, while Mr Dakar himself, 14-time winner Stephane Peterhansel, will join the team and TSE riders for a few stages during the race.
Riders will then face five stages in Morocco, followed by a rest day in Dakhla, before crossing the border into Mauritania for another five stages. They then enter Senegal for two days before finishing in Dakar on February 7.
Moto Wrap is brought to you weekly by DunlopAprilia Tuareg Racing Rally line-up for 2026 revealed
The 2026 season of Aprilia Tuareg Racing officially gets underway, starting with the eagerly awaited challenge of the 2026 Africa Eco Race, kicking off from Tangier, with riders Jacopo Cerutti, Francesco Montanari and Marco Menichini, on the Tuareg Rally.
The 2026 Aprilia Tuareg Racing line-up: Jacopo Cerutti, Francesco Montanari and Marco MenichiniFollowing the Africa Eco Race, comes the major new addition to the 2026 calendar: the participation in the European Tout Terrain Rally Cup, made up of four rounds: Spain (April 12–18), Greece (May 25–31), Romania (July 10–18) and Italy (October 13–17).
This represents a natural step forward for the Aprilia Tuareg Racing Team which, after dominating the Italian Motorally Championship for the past three seasons, now raises the bar by setting its sights on the European championship.
Moto Wrap is brought to you weekly by DunlopToni Bou increases X-Trial lead at Leeds
Repsol Honda HRC rider Ton Bou has secured his fifth victory of the year on the series’ return to the UK, while Gabriel Marcelli misses out on the podium for the first time this season.
The 2026 X-Trial World Championship officially returned after the winter break with the sixth round of the season, held in Leeds. The UK returned to the calendar after a ten-year absence and, on a highly demanding night, Toni Bou once again demonstrated his dominance, taking another victory that extends his lead in the overall standings.
Toni BouFrom the start, the sections presented a very high level of difficulty, with no room for error. Bou approached Qualifying 1 with calm and determination, managing each obstacle with precision to complete the first lap with 12 penalty points.
This placed the Repsol Honda rider in second position, just behind Jaime Busto. He qualified directly for the final alongside his teammate, Marcelli, and Busto.
In Superpole, which determined the starting order, the Montesa Cota 4RT rider was second fastest, securing a strategic position of starting second to last in the final.
In the final, Bou proved unstoppable. He corrected the minor errors made on his first run and stood out in a very demanding and close final. Ultimately, the Repsol Honda rider took the victory by a single point over Harry Hemingway. It was the reigning world champion’s fifth win of the season, adding 20 more points to his tally and widening the gap in the overall standings.
Toni Bou topped the podium in Leeds, Harry Hemingway second and Jaime Busto thirdToni Bou
“I’m very happy with the result, especially considering how it affects the championship. It was a very close race, particularly in the final, where I think I made a bad decision that affected my feeling. I know I’m not at 100% physically right now, and I took a risk on the first zone, which is ultimately what gave me the victory, so I’m happy with my position in the overall standings. This win is important, and the next challenge is Barcelona.”
Bou continues to lead the overall standings with 115 points, followed by Marcelli with 81. The next round will take place on February 8th in Barcelona, where Repsol Honda HRC will look to continue setting the pace for the season.
Gabriel Marcelli
“I’m not very happy with today’s race. I didn’t ride particularly well in the final, and my feeling wasn’t the best. On the positive side, I didn’t lose many points in the overall standings compared to Jaime. Now we have to analyse our mistakes, improve, and try to get back to the top in Barcelona.”

FMF KTM Factory Racing was on track at Round One of the AMA National Hare & Hound Series in Lucerne Valley with Dante Oliveira, who raced to a season-opening victory onboard his KTM 450 XC-F.
Dusty Californian conditions meant there was a strong emphasis on earning the all-important holeshot, which Oliveira did, as the reigning NHHA number one controlled the race from the head of the field.
In what was a typically strong outing, the 25-year-old recorded an overall finishing time of 2:18:27, claiming victory and beginning his title defense in the best possible way. Round 2 of the series will take place in Lovelock, Nevada, next month.
Dante Oliveira
“It was a super-good day for me today. I tried to get into the lead early because of how dusty the conditions were – which we were able to do – and then I was able to control the race from there. A day like today, you need to get the holeshot, which we did and I felt good charging from there. The bike felt awesome and I am getting more and more sharp in the NHHA style of racing, so a big thank you to my team for helping me feel comfortable out here in the desert.”

Blow by blow recap from AMA SX Round Three – Anaheim II
450 Main
Eli Tomac and Hunter Lawrence both launched well off the gate and charged towards turn one, but it was Chase Sexton and Jason Anderson who held the sharper inside lines and emerged at the front. Jorge Prado and Ken Roczen were buried outside the top ten on the opening lap, and a fall on lap two proved costly for the German.
2026 AMA SX – Round Three – A2Lawrence wasted little time asserting himself, edging past Sexton for second on lap two and setting off after Anderson, who held a 1.2-second advantage as lap three began.
Sexton responded a lap later, reclaiming second place and set about making it count. Tomac sat just over a second adrift in fourth, ahead of Aaron Plessinger and Cooper Webb.
2026 AMA SX – Round Three – A2 – Jason Anderson and Chase SextonSexton soon dropped Lawrence and began to reel in Anderson. By the six-minute mark, Sexton was firmly on the Suzuki rider’s rear wheel, setting up a rare, of late, and entertaining yellow-on-green duel for the lead. The pair traded positions over several laps before Sexton finally asserted control, while Anderson fell back into a three-way scrap with Lawrence and Tomac. Webb also remained a factor looming large from behind as the leaders disrupted each other’s rhythm at the front.
2026 AMA SX – Round Three – A2 – Tomac and LawrenceWith 12 minutes remaining, Tomac displaced Lawrence for third and immediately applied pressure to Anderson for second. Meanwhile, Sexton was quietly opening up a buffer at the head of the field.
Anderson initially resisted Tomac’s advances, breaking the KTM rider’s momentum just enough to allow Lawrence to regroup and retake third. Only five seconds covered the top five with eight minutes still to run.
Lawrence then made his move on Anderson to claim second and used the clear track ahead to build a small margin. Moments later, Tomac forced Anderson wide over a berm, Cooper Webb capitalised on the Suzuki man’s misfortune, demoting Anderson back to fifth. Up front, Sexton remained three seconds clear as the chaos unfolded behind him.
Hunter Lawrence began chipping away at Sexton’s lead, trimming it to just over two seconds with three minutes left on the clock. It was a similar margin back to third-placed Tomac, with Webb close enough in fourth to keep the pressure on. Anderson, however, had fallen out of podium contention. Webb then made a costly error and went down, surrendering what had looked like a solid fourth-place finish back to Anderson.
Sexton’s advantage dipped to just under two seconds when the white flag was shown, but he responded decisively, doubling that margin by the chequered flag as Hunter was baulked by lapped traffic.
2026 AMA SX – Round Three – A2 – Chase SextonAfter a difficult opening to the season, Sexton claimed his first victory for Kawasaki and was clearly buoyed by the result.
Tomac completed the podium in third, a further eight seconds adrift.
2026 AMA SX – Round Three – A2Webb mounted a late charge and nearly repassed Anderson on the run to the flag, but came up just short.
Joey Savatgy finished a further four seconds back in sixth, ahead of Prado.
Roczen salvaged valuable points after coming through the back from almost dead last, finishing eighth ahead of RJ Hampshire and Justin Cooper.
Tomac retains the championship lead on 70 points, with Lawrence moving up to second on 62. Sexton’s win vaulted him into third on 57 points, just one behind Roczen.
Chase Sexton – P1
“It’s been a long few months, going back to the [crash at the] Vegas SMX finale. That was not good for me. It’s hard to get back here [atop the podium], honestly. It’s been a journey. Even after the Heat Race tonight, I was wondering what I was doing wrong and knew I needed to just go out there and do my laps. I strapped up for the Main Event and just rode solid and more within myself. I can’t say enough about the team and everything they’ve done to get us to this point. It’s good to put Kawi back on top.”
2026 AMA SX – Round Three – A2 – Chase SextonHunter Lawrence – P2
“It was a good day—the battle with Eli [Tomac] was cool! I was behind Chase [Sexton] and Jason [Anderson], and I know that the first 10 minutes of these races are always such a super-intense, high pace, so I was just trying to stay in the hunt. I know I have the legs to go the distance, so I was just trying to give myself the best shot, stay in it in the beginning and move forward. I believed that I could get there, I knew I had some good lines and was feeling good. I was trying to up the intensity towards the closing stage, and I looked up and there was like six minutes left; I was like, ‘Alright, let’s empty the tank.’ I would’ve liked to see how the last two laps unfolded had there not been traffic with the two lapped riders. It’s been my best start of the season for Supercross, which is what I wanted to do. We’ve still got so many races to go. It’s been some really good racing.”
2026 AMA SX – Round Three – A2 – Hunter LawrenceEli Tomac – P3
“I felt like I was in offence and defence mode the whole time during that Main Event – it was very busy! I was happy to claim a podium spot tonight, but also, there are a couple of things I think back to that maybe I could have done differently to try and stay in front of Hunter [Lawrence], but that’s all should have, would have, could have at this point. This race had a bit of everything, but everyone is hauling the mail, and the pace was super-fast. It’s good to finish with a podium here – if you had told me at the beginning of the series that I’d go 1-1-3, that’s an awesome start, so I’m proud of the team.”
Eli TomacJason Anderson – P4
“The weekend here at Anaheim 2 went pretty well. Practice was mediocre; I qualified ninth overall. In my heat race I was able to get a third, and then in the main event I [grabbed] a good start and was able to get fourth. So, we’re trending upwards, but obviously we want to be on the podium.”

Michael Mosiman grabbed the holeshot ahead of Max Vohland, Cameron McAdoo and Haiden Deegan. Max Anstie slotted into the fringes of the top ten early on, while Chance Hymas’ night unravelled immediately, the Honda rider caught in a four-rider pile-up on the run to turn one. He later withdrew from the race, presumably due to damage sustained in the incident. Levi Kitchen also went down early in a separate crash.
2026 AMA SX – Round Three – A2Out front, Mosiman capitalised on the clear air as Deegan sliced past McAdoo and Vohland to settle into second. By lap three, Mosiman had opened a three-second lead. Further back, Anstie worked his way up to sixth before a mistake halted his progress and cost him several positions.
2026 AMA SX – Round Three – A2 – Michael MosimanAt the halfway point, Deegan began to reduce the deficit, though not at a dramatic rate, with the gap hovering between 1.5 and 2 seconds. With five minutes remaining, that margin dipped to just over a second for the first time. One lap later, it was down to half a second, and Deegan was now applying sustained pressure, repeatedly showing Mosiman a wheel.
Just under three minutes from the end, Deegan committed to the pass, diving up the inside to seize the lead and immediately pulling clear. By the chequered flag, his advantage had stretched to a commanding 8.5 seconds. Although his fastest lap was only marginally quicker than Mosiman’s, Deegan’s late-race pace proved decisive.
Ten seconds further back, Cameron McAdoo and Ryder DiFrancesco went head-to-head over the final podium position, with the Husqvarna rider ultimately emerging on top.
2026 AMA SX – Round Three – A2Anstie recovered to sixth place late in the race to salvage useful points, but overall, A2 proved a disappointing round for the Brit.
For Hymas and Kitchen, disappointment is not a strong enough noun, as DNFs dealt significant blows to their championship hopes.
Deegan leaves A2 with 68 points, while Mosiman moves up to second in the standings on 59, just one point ahead of Anstie.
Haiden Deegan – P1
“That was amazing. Good ride. Solid ride. I need to give it up to [Mosiman], when people put in that extra work a lot of the time it goes unnoticed. He’s the only guy I see out there putting in the extra effort. I gotta give him credit and that’s what makes him such a tough competitor.”
2026 AMA SX – Round Three – A2 – Haiden DeeganMichael Mosiman – P2
“It feels great [to be on the podium]. Every time I go to the gate I look up at the stands, see all the fans, and make sure I appreciate the moment. We put in so much work just to be able to perform and when that happens it’s just an amazing feeling. I’m stoked on the race and stoked on my start. Whenever you can get a holeshot that makes a world of difference.”
Ryder DiFrancesco – P3
“I’m really happy with my A2 result and how I charged through the Main Event. I started around eighth and worked my way up to third place, which is a confidence-booster in being able to climb from the mid-field. I found some good lines tonight while I was coming through the pack and I knew that if I could be there toward the end of the race – and nail the three, three, after the whoops – that I could get close and make a pass for the podium. I’m glad that I proved to myself that I can start mid-pack and still land on the box, and now I’m ready for the Triple Crown next weekend!”
Ryder DiFrancescoCameron McAdoo – P4
“Overall, it was a solid night. I felt good on the bike all day and put myself in a position to fight for the podium. The start was solid, and I was able to run up front and battle in the top three for most of the race. I made a small mistake late in the main that cost me that podium spot, but fourth is still something we can build on. The speed is there, the confidence is growing, and we’re heading in the right direction. I’m excited to keep this momentum rolling into Houston.”

18-year-old Kayden Minear got the holeshot in the SMX contest at Anaheim and was never headed thereafter.
SMX Next – Kayden Minear16-year-olds Caden Dudney and Vincent Wey had a heady battle over second place during the early laps before Dudney managed to break away and then started to reel in Minear.
SMX Next – Kayden MinearAt times, it looked as though Dudney might have the speed to steal the victory from Minear, but the Western Australian responded to the challenge and went on to take the victory.
SMX Next – Kayden MinearFurther back, Wey and 18-year-old Landen Gordon tussled hard over the final laps for the remaining rostrum position. Gordon got the nod at the flag to make it a Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing 1-2-3.
