Kyron Bacon impresses at Campionato degli Assoluti d’Italia

Kyron Bacon and MGR Racing Team made their Campionato degli Assoluti d’Italia debut over the weekend, with the Tasmanian lining up at Caltanissetta for a round of Italy’s premier national enduro series.

The event featured the traditional mix of Cross Test, Enduro Test and Extreme Test special stages, providing Bacon with valuable time against some of the riders he will soon face in the EnduroGP paddock.

On Saturday, Bacon showed encouraging speed aboard his Kawasaki KX, building confidence with both the bike and the Italian terrain as the day progressed. He finished Day One 13th outright and eighth in the Foreign Riders category.

Sunday brought another step forward. Bacon lifted his pace, looked more settled across the tests, and was able to convert that improvement into a top-ten overall result. He also finished ninth in the Foreign Riders class, setting competitive times in a strong international field.

The performance marked a positive first outing for Bacon and MGR Racing Team in the Italian championship, and provided a useful benchmark ahead of his EnduroGP commitments.

“I’m happy with the weekend. My speed was good, and I set strong times in every test. It’s back to work now, focusing on the second GP of the season.”

EnduroGP heads to Spain for Round Two

The 2026 EnduroGP World Championship heads to Spain this weekend, with Round Two scheduled for May 1-3.

Josep Garcia arrives as the early benchmark after topping both the EnduroGP outright and Enduro1 standings at the opening round. Andrea Verona leads the Enduro2 class and shapes as Garcia’s main rival in the overall contest, while Steve Holcombe holds the Enduro3 points lead despite Brad Freeman taking a day win at Round One.

In Youth, Alberto Elgari was the standout performer at the opener, although Riccardo Pasquato leads the early championship standings. Justine Martel was also unbeaten in the Women’s category, making a perfect start to her campaign.

Jaggar Townley tops 85 cc class at French MX

New Zealand youngster Jaggar Townley impressed in the 85 cc ranks at the 24MX Tour Championnat de France Motocross in Romagné, taking the overall victory after two strong races.

Townley finished third in the opening moto behind Tim Lopes and Kenzo Jaspers, before turning the tables in race two with a commanding win. He crossed the line 14 seconds clear of Jaspers, a result that lifted him to 90 points for the round.

That left Townley tied on points with Lopes, but his race-two victory proved decisive, giving the Kiwi the overall win for the event.

Speedway World Cup SF-1 line-up revealed

The starting line-ups for Speedway World Cup Semi-Final 1 at Landshut have been confirmed, with hosts Germany set to face Great Britain, the Czech Republic and tournament debutants Ukraine this Friday.

The meeting will decide the first qualifier for the FIM Speedway World Cup Final at Warsaw’s PGE Narodowy on August 29, where the winner will join hosts Poland, 2025 FIM Speedway of Nations world champions Australia, and the winner of Semi-Final 2 in Riga, which takes place on August 7.

Each nation must nominate four starting riders, listed from No.1 to No.4, along with one reserve at No.5. The reserve can be used by the team manager at any point during the meeting for up to five rides, or six if the team falls six or more points behind the leading nation.

The four teams will contest 20 heats, with one rider from each country in every race. The highest-scoring nation after those 20 heats will progress directly to the Warsaw final.

Landshut will also host the opening round of the individual world championship season, with the FIM Speedway GP of Germany to follow on Saturday night.

Sherco announce ISDE rental and assistance packages

Sherco has announced rental and race-assistance packages for riders contesting the 2026 International Six Days Enduro, which will be held in Grândola, Portugal, from October 12-17.

Two options are available through Sherco, with riders able to rent a motorcycle from the Sherco enduro range, or book race assistance through the official Sherco Factory Team. Both two-stroke and four-stroke models are available.

The rental package includes transport of the motorcycle to the ISDE, along with registration and insurance. Motorcycle reservations close on July 30, 2026, with places limited to 15 bikes. A 30 per cent deposit is required to confirm a booking.

Rental does not include the assistance service, which is additional and mandatory for those hiring a motorcycle.

The Sherco assistance service is also available to riders competing on their own Sherco. Delivered by members of the Sherco Factory Team, the package is designed to give privateers factory-level support throughout the Six Days, drawing on the brand’s experience at both ISDE and EnduroGP level.

For riders bringing their own Sherco, the assistance package does not include motorcycle rental.

Lorenzo Santolino wins 2026 Carta Rallye

The 2026 Carta Rallye in Morocco has been run and won, with Sherco’s Lorenzo Santolino taking outright victory ahead of the Ténéré Yamaha Rally Team pairing of Kevin Gallas and Gautier Paulin.

The seventh and final stage at M’Hamid comprised 107 kilometres of special and 14 kilometres of liaison, for a total of 121 kilometres. After a demanding week in the Moroccan desert, the short final test brought the 2026 event to a close.

While Santolino claimed the overall win, the Ténéré Yamaha Rally Team’s performance was one of the rally’s major talking points as it went up against factory Dakar-style 450 cc single-cylinder machinery to take three stage wins and seven overall stage podiums across the week.

Kevin Gallas

Gallas secured second overall in what was only his fourth rally raid. Building on his Africa Eco Race victory earlier in the season, the German showed both pace and consistency, winning Stage 3 and adding podium finishes on Stages 4 and 5. He completed the rally with a final time of 25h55m47s, finishing 29m13s behind Santolino.

Kevin Gallas – P2

“Today, on the last stage, it was really short, technical, not so nice to ride, and really physical. I took it fairly chilled from the beginning. I had nine minutes on Gautier and absolutely no chance of winning, so I just managed it to the finish and did enough. I lost a little bit more time than I would have liked, but I am really happy. The team did really well all week. I feel like we improved again from the Africa Eco Race. We gave the Dakar 450cc bikes a hard time on some stages and won three stages on a twin-cylinder adventure bike against them, which I am really proud of. It is another really good step for the season, and I am very happy with my week and with the performance.”

Gautier Paulin

Paulin was close behind in third overall, stopping the clock at 25h56m59s, just 1m12s behind Gallas. Also contesting only his fourth rally raid, the Frenchman claimed two stage wins and another podium on Stage 6, underlining how quickly he has adapted to the discipline. Despite a penalty during the week, Paulin remained in podium contention throughout and closed out the rally with third overall.

Gautier Paulin – P3

“It has been a great rally. We improved a lot with the bike and confirmed the durability work we have been doing, so I am very proud of the whole crew and of myself as well. I improved a lot with the roadbook and understanding where I was in these huge open spaces facing the horizon. Even with the penalty, I learned a lot. I am still a rookie in this class, so to improve this much every time is really cool. Overall, it has been a very positive experience.”

Denno wins 2026 SMX Next
Supercross AMA National Championship

Deacon Denno has claimed the 2026 SMX Next – Supercross AMA National Championship, taking victory in difficult rain-soaked conditions in Philadelphia.

The SMX Next Main Event brought together 18 of the leading amateur prospects in the sport, with the one-off title race run on a deteriorating track that placed a premium on starts, composure and mistake-free laps.

Deacon Denno

Denno made the decisive move early, exiting the opening turn in front and immediately giving himself clear vision while the rest of the field dealt with roost and standing water. From there, the Triumph Factory Racing rider controlled the race from the front.

Kade Johnson, representing Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green, settled into second place, while KTM Orange Brigade rider Jeremy Fappani held third. Denno steadily extended his advantage through the early stages, stretching the margin to more than 12 seconds at one point before managing the gap to the finish.

The 18-year-old eventually crossed the line 9.3 seconds clear of Johnson, taking the biggest win of his young career and securing the SMX Next crown. Johnson finished a clear second, with Fappani completing the podium.

Deacon Denno

“It’s been a great end to the series and a dream come true to come away with the SMX Next Supercross AMA National Championship title. My goal when I came into these events was to win races, so I’m pretty pumped to walk away with two wins and a second place. It is exciting and rewarding to have had all of the hard work pay off. The SMX Next season has brought so much experience for me and I’m definitely grateful for it; there’s been some highs and lows, but I was able to power through mentally and physically, and I learnt a lot. The highlight for me has to be Daytona – it’s such an iconic place. To win there was very special and for it to be my first SX win, and to win for the team, is definitely something I won’t forget.

Deacon Denno

“The bike has been great right the way through; right from the start when I joined the programme, I adapted to the TF 250-X really well, and I felt comfy on the bike straight away. The more we test and dial in the bike for me, the better it has gotten, so a big thanks to Triumph and the team for that. Having a team like Triumph Factory Racing behind me has been awesome. There’s so much knowledge and everyone has been in the industry for a long time – I’m grateful to have them behind me. I want to thank everyone in my corner; my mechanic Dillon, he puts in a lot of work for me, Jeremy, Scuba, Brownie, Ivan and Stilez have been helping me out week in, week out too. I’m grateful to the whole team for all of the hard work they do for me to compete at this level. Following Philadelphia, I’m looking forward to heading back and shifting the focus to motocross to get ready for the outdoor season.”

The result is also another significant marker for Triumph’s developing off-road program. While the spotlight rightly belongs on Denno’s performance, a national amateur supercross title in such testing conditions is worthy of recognition for the British brand as it continues to establish its off-road credentials under the pressure of competition.

2026 AFT Round Four – Ventura Short Track Wrap

Drane denied by 0.034s at Ventura as Bauman rules SuperTwins

KICKER AFT Singles

Kage Tadman returned to the scene of his 2025 breakthrough and did it again at Ventura Raceway, edging reigning KICKER AFT Singles champion Tom Drane by just 0.034s in a tense, race-long scrap at Round 4 of the 2026 Progressive American Flat Track season. The win made Tadman the fourth different winner in four Singles races this year.

Jared Lowe was the early leader after taking the holeshot, but Tadman soon worked around the outside to take control. Drane then forced his way past Lowe and immediately went after the Honda rider, repeatedly threatening on the inside as Tadman’s preferred outside line left a narrow opening. With a little over a minute remaining, Drane finally made a move stick, only for Tadman to square the corner off, cross back underneath and reclaim the lead almost immediately.

From there, Drane kept the pressure on to the flag. The Australian’s Yamaha bucked and moved around underneath him as he searched for one final opportunity, and he came closest on the last lap, but still finished a wheel short at the stripe. Tadman’s second Ventura victory was enough to deny Drane while Trevor Brunner recovered from a poor start to snatch third after reeling in Lowe late. Lowe’s fourth-place finish matched his career best, while Tarren Santero charged from the back of the field, having qualified through the Last Chance Qualifier, to take fifth.

“It’s been a roller coaster. I can’t thank the Turner Racing team enough for everything they do for me. We had a couple bad rounds; I’ve been struggling with some things, but we got it figured out when it mattered. Right now, this is a dream come true – again.”

Chase Saathoff came home sixth ahead of Walker Porter, Justin Jones, Justin Anselmi and Skylar Sentell, while the points picture tightened further after four rounds. Drane now leads the standings on 75 points from Brunner on 66, with Tadman up to third on 61 after his Ventura success.

The next round of the 2026 Progressive American Flat Track season is the Silver Dollar Short Track in Chico on May 2.

Mission AFT SuperTwins

Briar Bauman fired a warning shot in the 2026 Grand National Championship with a commanding victory in the Mission AFT SuperTwins main at Ventura Raceway, taking his third straight premier-class win at the coastal venue. Bauman controlled the race from the front and eventually beat Kody Kopp by 1.373s, while Dallas Daniels completed the podium in third.

Bauman launched straight into the lead and quickly broke the contest down to a two-rider affair with fellow Harley-Davidson rider Kopp. The rookie points leader did what he could to stay in touch as the pair edged clear of the field, but Bauman had the pace covered throughout and looked increasingly comfortable out front.

Kopp was briefly handed a late opportunity when Bauman encountered traffic while lapping riders battling over fifth, but the Californian had already done the hard work. Even with that delay, Bauman still had enough in hand to secure a convincing win and put a sluggish start to his season firmly behind him.

Briar Bauman

“I got a little bit greedy the first three rounds. I kind of led the team in a difficult direction. We wanted to bite off more than we could chew, and we got a little ahead of ourselves. So apologies to Rick Ware Racing and the whole family, but this is where we belong. I love coming here. I see my friends. I see my family where I grew up. I’m a pretty good Short Tracker, so I enjoy riding this track in general… I’m so proud of my guys. We did something massive tonight.”

Daniels’ run to third was rather less straightforward. The reigning champion had been locked in a fierce scrap with Davis Fisher, and it appeared Fisher had the upper hand until mechanical trouble struck the KTM rider with less than a minute remaining. That misfortune opened the door for Daniels to claim another podium, while Bronson Bauman capitalised as well to finish an impressive fourth in his 2026 debut.

Ben Lowe rounded out the top five ahead of Aidan RoosEvans and Trent Lowe, with Logan McGrane, Jacob Lehmann and Evan Renshaw completing the top ten.

Four rounds into his full-time Mission AFT SuperTwins career, Kopp continues to lead the standings on 84 points after two wins and two runner-up finishes. Daniels sits second on 77, while Bauman’s Ventura victory lifts him to third on 62. The next round is the Silver Dollar Short Track in Chico on May 2.

AFT ProSport 450

Californian Jett Katarzy secured a popular first-career AFT ProSport victory in front of his home fans with a wire-to-wire victory.

The AFT ProSport 450’s West Coast debut brought out a number of new contenders to race against the established frontrunners who made the trip out to Ventura. However, none of the talented amateurs who qualified for the event by way of the 450 Road to AFT Main Event in Friday’s AMA-sanctioned Mission Foods CTR Showcase Event had anything for home-state hero Katarzy.

Prior to Ventura, the 1st Impressions Husqvarna had twice finished inside the top five but was yet to stand on the podium. The highly rated prospect rectified that by bolting out into the lead off the line and going unchallenged from that point forward.

Jett Katarzy

“It just feels so good,” Katarzy said. ”I know I get good starts, and I knew if I got out front, I could just stay calm and hold it for the win.”

Behind Katarzy, a frenetic, multi-rider brawl broke out for second. While a revolving collection of challengers took their shot at displacing Bayne Nantz from second, no one managed to make a move stick.

Meanwhile, Ryder Bitz-Hay finished close behind Nantz in third to up his perfect AFT ProSport 450 podium record to three-for-three.

Adam Costan-Wood and Kensei Matsudaira registered with top-five debuts, finishing fourth and fifth, respectively.

Roczen takes red plate as Davies seals 250 East title in rain-hit Philadelphia

Round 15 of the 2026 Monster Energy Supercross Championship at Lincoln Financial Field proved to be one of the most consequential nights of the season, as rapidly changing weather transformed the Philadelphia circuit into a muddy, rutted-out mess that rewarded patience as much as outright pace.

Lincoln Financial Field Philadelphia Supercross 2026 stadium overview rain affected eventLincoln Financial Field hosted a rain-hit Round 15 of the 2026 Monster Energy Supercross Championship in Philadelphia.

Intermittent rain showers throughout the night program created constantly evolving track conditions, forcing riders to adapt lap by lap as ruts deepened and traction disappeared to the point that professional riders were essentially paddling their way through some sections.

By the end of the evening, the 250 East title fight had been settled, while the 450SX championship had been dramatically reshaped.

Two-time 450SX Champion Eli Tomac was absent from Round 15, as he continues to recover from his qualifying incident at the previous round in Cleveland.

Ken Roczen delivered a decisive performance in Philadelphia to claim his fifth victory of the season and, more importantly, seize control of the 450SX championship with just two rounds remaining.

Ken Roczen – P1

“We started off dry in the morning. I felt pretty good on the track and was able to put myself in fourth [overall] in qualifying, which I was totally happy with. We had a long break to the night show and that’s when the real rain started,” said Roczen. “It ended up being a hell of a night. It started off with the heat race; [the track] was still pretty ridable, the dirt was just a little bit more sloshy and not as deep and hammered. So, I really enjoyed the heat race, we ended up winning that one. Going into the main event, it was just a nightmare out there. Like, when you watched the 250 race [conditions], we knew it was going to be a long main event. We couldn’t be happier with how the night went. We threw up a good start, made a couple of passes, and I was just really focused on not making any mistakes. It was tough out there with the lappers, we only had a couple of lines going, but coming away after a really hard-fought battle with the win was just an unbelievable feeling. So, everything’s going well at the moment; we’re truly enjoying it.”

Cooper Webb – P2

“It got crazy at the end. I just went full send. It’s a bummer to get second after riding that flawless of a race but we were pushing hard. I got close at the end, but lappers dictated some of it at the end and helped Kenny [Roczen] or hurt me, or vice versa. I felt like tonight was an opportunity I needed to make the most of and just didn’t quite pull it off. Overall, a great ride.”

Cooper Webb Yamaha riding muddy Yamaha in Philadelphia Supercross 450 raceCooper Webb on his way to second place in Philadelphia.
Hunter Lawrence – P3

“We invested a lot more time into the starts in wet conditions, and that was a big positive this weekend; I had good starts in the heat race and the main event, so it’s good to see the work pay off. I felt really good with how I was riding, and just the smallest little mistake in the wrong part of the track bit me. Then your gloves are all muddy, so it’s just kind of trying to get back into a rhythm and not have the train completely come off the tracks. They say mud is the great equalizer, but it’s more like a minefield. We didn’t quite get the end result we wanted, but that’s racing. I’m excited to leave here having learned more, so we’re ready for whatever the last two rounds bring—it’s going to be good!”

Hunter Lawrence Honda jumping a muddy Honda during Philadelphia Supercross 450 raceHunter Lawrence navigates the soaked Philadelphia circuit during the 450SX Main Event.
Chase Sexton – P7

“I qualified better here in Philadelphia, qualifying third. Then it started raining, so it was a bit chaotic after that. I had a bad start in the heat race and just tried to make it through. In the main event, I had another bad start. I made it up to around seventh, and then I fell, and I went back to around 12th, and then just worked my way back to seventh. I actually rode a decent race, just a bad start and a fall kept me from the podium. We’ll go back to work. The team is coming back to Florida this week, and we plan to make some progress and get ready for Denver.”

Garrett Marchbanks – P9

“Philadelphia was a bit up and down, but I was happy to end it on a good note in the main event. Qualifying was OK I was just trying to do my laps and get comfortable in the first session. In the second session, I felt like I had some solid laps. I didn’t get the lap time I wanted, but I was able to feel more comfortable on the bike and felt really good going into the heat race. I went into the heat race with an OK start, just put my laps in and got into fifth, and rode my own race from there. In the main event, I had two big mistakes. I stalled the bike and got tangled up with some guys, and just charged from last to 10th. There were two guys in front of me the last two laps, and I tried to make a pass, but I couldn’t quite make it happen. I wish the night had gone a bit better, but I’m happy to be back in the Top 10 again.”

250 Main

While the 450 class reshaped its championship fight, the 250 East division reached its conclusion in dramatic fashion.

250 Supercross start Philadelphia muddy conditions Lincoln Financial FieldThe 250SX East field launches off the gate in treacherous, rain-soaked conditions at Lincoln Financial Field.

Cole Davies rose to the occasion in the most challenging conditions of the season to secure both the race win and the championship, sealing the title one round early with his fifth victory of the year.

The Main Event began with Seth Hammaker taking the holeshot in front of his home crowd, but the race was immediately thrown into chaos when he crashed, dropping from the lead to the rear of the field. That opened the door for a rapidly evolving lead group that included Davies, Derek Kelley and Daxton Bennick.

Davies briefly hit the ground himself but crucially recovered without losing significant time. As the race settled, he moved back into the lead and began to build a margin while chaos unfolded behind him.

250 Supercross restart Philadelphia muddy track riders pack racingRiders charge back into action following the red-flag restart in the 250SX East Main Event.

A red flag midway through the race added further complexity, forcing a staggered restart with just over seven minutes remaining. Davies handled the restart perfectly, re-establishing control at the front while Bennick slotted into second.

Behind them, the battle for the podium intensified. Coty Schock and Devin Simonson fought over third before Hammaker, charging back through the field, rejoined the fight. He eventually moved into podium contention but a late mistake denied him the opportunity to challenge for second place.

That proved decisive in the championship outcome. Davies controlled the closing laps to take the win by 12.9 seconds, while Bennick held on for second and Hammaker completed an impressive recovery ride to third.

Cole Davies – P1

“[This championship] means everything to me and my family. We’ve sacrificed everything to come over here [and race in the U.S.]. I cannot thank them enough. All the hard work, the ups and downs, it’s all worth it now. This track was treacherous, but we got it done. A dream come true.”

Cole Davies 2026 AMA Supercross 250 East Champion celebrating with Yamaha team PhiladelphiaCole Davies holds the championship trophy and #1 plate after clinching the 250 East title in Philadelphia.
Daxton Bennick – P2

“Obviously, qualifying started dry here and everything was feeling good. Then everything changed real quick! I did get some wheel-spin off the start in the Heat Race, but rode really good to come back to second – I was happy with that, and then kind of the same thing happened in the Main Event. I rode really well before the restart and I almost passed for the lead at one stage, but once the restart hit, I was trying a little too hard and made a couple of mistakes. But all-in-all, it’s good we’re back on the box, so I can’t be too mad at it – especially in those conditions!”

Daxton Bennick
Seth Hammaker – P3

“I’m definitely a little bummed. I had big title hopes, but I was up against a tough competitor, so credit to Cole [Davies] and his team. I feel like I took a big step forward this year, even if it doesn’t always show in the results. I’ve been riding well and staying consistent, but I just didn’t have everything fall into place the way I wanted. I actually felt pretty comfortable in the conditions tonight. I was trying to be loose with the bike and not try to fight where it wanted to go too much. I got off to a great start in the main event, but went down early and had to fight from way back. I was hurting pretty bad after I went down, but I’m happy to come away with another podium, especially here at home. It means a lot. Big thanks to my whole team, my family, and everyone who supports me. We’ll go into Salt Lake looking to end this thing strong.”
