The season-opening Thai Moto2 Grand Prix at Buriram has been red-flagged twice.

The first stoppage was for an incident involving David Alonso on lap 4.

Alonso, in seventh, clipped the back of Senna Agius through the twisty Turn 9-10 sequence.

Agius appeared to have suffered a technical issue, raising his hand and trying to get off-line when he was hit by Alonso.

While Agius remained upright, Alonso fell from his CFMoto Aspar machine and was then struck by the following Filip Salac.

Salac was unharmed after also falling, running over to check on Alonso, who was later taken away on a stretcher, forcing red flags.

The latest official update is that Alonso is conscious and has gone to the Medical Centre for “full checks due to pain in his arm.” The Colombian also has a possible leg injury.

The Moto2 restart was planned for 11 laps, with the grid based on the standings at the end of lap 3, when Alonso’s team-mate Dani Holgado was leading. Salac and Agius had to start from pit lane.

However, red flags appeared again on the opening lap of the restart, when Sergio Garcia tagged the rear tyre of Barry Baltus at the Turn 3 hairpin, sending Garcia down and then wiping out Luca Lunetta.

Both riders were conscious but were also taken to the medical centre for further checks.

The third Thai Moto2 Grand Prix start will now be over just seven laps, using the 'race two' starting positions.

Salac and Agius have to start from pit lane once again.
