Hayden Gillim made it two wins from two starts in the 2026 MotoAmerica King of the Baggers season with a narrow victory over J&P Cycles/Motul/Vance & Hines Factory Indian team-mate Troy Herfoss in race one at Road Atlanta.

The pair once again had the contest between them, with Herfoss leading the opening three laps before Gillim found a way through on lap four. From there, Gillim controlled the remainder of the nine-lap race, but never by much, eventually taking the chequered flag less than two-tenths ahead of the Australian

Herfoss scored the fastest lap of the race, but it was Gillim who got the result, backing up his season-opening success and keeping Indian’s unbeaten run intact through the opening two rounds.

With Kyle Wyman crashing out on the opening lap, Bradley Smith capitalised to claim his first King of the Baggers podium for Harley-Davidson x Dynojet Factory Racing. Smith moved into third by lap three and remained there to the finish, ending the race 3.526s behind Gillim.

Rocco Landers finished fourth on the third factory Indian, while Tyler O’Hara was fifth after running third on the opening two laps before slipping back as the race unfolded.

James Rispoli was sixth ahead of Jake Lewis and Cory West, the latter the final rider on the lead lap.

The result reinforced the early-season pattern in King of the Baggers, with the factory Indians still setting the pace and Gillim edging ahead in the intra-team battle after another close fight with Herfoss.

King of the Baggers Race Two

Defending champion Kyle Wyman’s Sunday got off to a disastrous start when the Harley-Davidson x Dynojet rider peeled into the pit lane at the end of the warm-up lap rather than taking his place on the grid for the King of the Baggers race two at Road Atlanta.

Saturday winner Hayden Gillim suffered no such misfortune, firing his Indian Challenger off the line to grab the holeshot and immediately take control of the nine-lap contest.

Gillim led every lap, set the fastest lap of the race with a 1:27.959 and was the only rider to dip into the 1:27s on his way to a commanding 4.161-second victory.

Behind him, the fight for the remaining podium places evolved as the race unfolded. Bradley Smith held second on the opening lap, but Rocco Landers moved ahead on lap two and stayed there to the chequered flag to complete an Indian 1-2.

Troy Herfoss, who was only sixth at the end of the opening lap, gradually worked his way forward, picking off Tyler O’Hara and then Smith before moving into third on lap eight. He closed in late, but Landers had already done enough to secure second, leaving Herfoss to settle for third.

Smith was the first Harley-Davidson rider home in fourth, ahead of O’Hara and James Rispoli. Wyman, meanwhile, started from pit lane and steadily advanced from 11th to seventh by the flag, salvaging some valuable points from a race that had looked like a write-off before it even began.

The win moved Gillim to the top of the championship on 82 points, just one clear of Herfoss, with Smith third and Landers fourth after the Road Atlanta double-header.
