MotoGP 2026
KTM
Red Bull KTM has unveiled its 2026 MotoGP line-up and updated RC16 livery, confirming continuity across both its factory and Tech3 squads as the Austrian manufacturer enters its tenth season in the premier class.
As MotoGP enters the final season of the current technical regulations, the competitive landscape at the front has largely stabilised. Ducati remains the reference point, Aprilia has established itself as a genuine race-winning threat, and KTM sits firmly in the space between outright dominance and breakthrough contention.
Pit Beirer – KTM Motorsports Director
“We have four fantastic riders in our group and each one has something very special. Last year, I feel we couldn’t really make the package ready for everybody to show their best potential. So that was the highest target we had over the last weeks: to make sure everyone gets what he needs to perform. We have belief, and many strengths and we stick together as a team. This makes me very confident that we have all the right people on board, and the bike improved quite a lot over the last weeks and months. I feel we are ready to race. 2026 will be a busy year: on one side everybody wants to look to ‘27 and think about that. But I just don’t want to forget ‘26 is around the corner. We want to make this year our year, and use all the chances we have. It’s time to go for it in ‘26.”
Team KTM – MotoGP 2026Ducati continues to define the benchmark across most metrics: peak acceleration, braking stability and overall adaptability across circuits. Its advantage is no longer overwhelming, but it remains the most complete package over a full season. The breadth of Ducati data, accumulated across multiple satellite teams, has also allowed it to evolve faster and with less risk.
Aprilia, by contrast, has refined its RS-GP into a bike that is highly competitive at specific circuits and conditions. Over the past two seasons, the Italian manufacturer has shown it can win races on merit, particularly where agility, front-end feel and tyre conservation come into play. Its challenge remains converting those peaks into consistent championship pressure.
KTM’s position is different again. The RC16 has long been one of the most physically demanding bikes on the grid, but also one of the most capable under braking and in straight-line performance. By the end of 2025, KTM had reduced many of the usability issues that previously limited its riders across race distance, particularly in managing rear tyre drop-off.
KTM MotoGP 2026Heading into 2026, KTM’s advantage over Aprilia lies in depth and continuity. With four proven race winners across factory and Tech3 squads, KTM can generate meaningful data across a wide performance window. Acosta and Binder offer contrasting but complementary riding styles, while Bastianini and Viñales bring experience in adapting bikes to different circuit demands.
Where KTM still trails Ducati is in race-to-race repeatability. Ducati can arrive at almost any circuit with confidence that its baseline is competitive. KTM, while capable of matching Ducati on certain tracks and conditions, has yet to demonstrate that same level of consistency across an entire season.
The 2026 campaign also marks the final iteration of the KTM RC16 under the current MotoGP technical regulations, with sweeping changes due in 2027. As such, the season carries added significance for KTM as it looks to extract the maximum from a platform that has steadily matured over recent years.
Aki Ajo – Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team Manager
“Last year was somehow quite special for us after a challenging start. We had steady improvement during the season. I really feel that we made a big step, across all communication and in simplifying many aspects. Things were coming, and results were coming by understanding and bydaily improvement. You just focus on small daily steps because it’s not easy to do big steps in a short time, short term. We know the potential of the bike, the riders, the teams and the group. This means we can be excited about the potential for 2026 but we will keep patience in the work and focus.”
Nicolas Goyon – Red Bull KTM Tech3 Team Manager
“2025 was emotional. We had some huge highs and, unfortunately, some down moments in the season, but it’s part of this sport. We started this collaboration with KTM in 2019, and I have to say that since then, the factory has been helping us more and more, and 2025 was the season where we received more than ever. Both teams were evolving at the same level. Now, we’re really looking forward to working with our new management. I really feel we’re prepared for this new season, this new era. So overall, I’m excited about this new challenge.”
Team KTM – MotoGP 2026KTM ended 2025 with 14 podiums across Grands Prix and Sprints, 17 top-five finishes and a fourth-place championship result for Acosta, equalling the marque’s best-ever riders’ championship position. The emphasis for 2026 appears to be refinement rather than reinvention, with KTM focusing on consistency, usability and extracting performance across a full season.
Pedro Acosta – Red Bull KTM Factory Racing
Acosta enters 2026 off his strongest MotoGP season to date, having established himself as a consistent top-five finisher. KTM views him as the long-term reference point for the RC16, with 2026 an opportunity to turn regular front-running pace into sustained championship pressure.

“In the second half of 2025 we were starting to make good races, good results, even when we were not having our best days. We were able to manage to be in this top five constantly. All-in-all it was really good to be able to fight for 3rd place in the Championship. Thanks to the team and to KTM, for this. We go for more this year and to start in the right way from Sepang next week.”
Pedro Acosta – Red Bull KTM Factory RacingBrad Binder – Red Bull KTM Factory Racing
Brad Binder remains KTM’s most experienced MotoGP rider and a key development reference. After a more difficult 2025, his focus for 2026 is on simplifying his approach and regaining the instinctive riding style that has underpinned his strongest seasons.
Brad Binder
“It’s been a great off-season. I took a couple weeks off and got a lot of riding done, a lot of cycling. I’m looking forward to a fresh start again this season and hopefully we can get back to the performances I know I’m capable of. MotoGP is tough: if you look at the lap times and there’s almost nothing in it, but the way every single rider does it is always different. Some on the brakes, some on throttle, some completely different riding styles. Last year I felt like I was thinking the whole time on the motorbike, instead of letting just my natural ability take over and that’s one thing that I want to change for this season. Just really enjoy riding the bike a bit more. I’m quite confident that I can make a good step up.”
Brad Binder – Red Bull KTM Factory RacingEnea Bastianini – Red Bull KTM Tech3
Enea Bastianini continues his adaptation to the RC16 after steadily getting to grips with the Austrian machine in 2025. KTM expects greater consistency from the Italian as familiarity with the bike and team improves, with his tyre preservation ability remaining a major asset.
Enea Bastianini
“It was so important to reflect on 2025 because it was a complicated year, I think, but also it was good in a way because I’ve learned a lot. 2026 will be different because I will know more about the bike, about the team. I think I will be much stronger. I’m motivated to be back on track because I want to fight again for something important. This year I think the factory will be very strong. I saw much potential, especially during the test in Valencia last year. I think we are Ready to Race, ready to fight.”
Enea Bastianini – Red Bull KTM Tech3Maverick Viñales – Red Bull KTM Tech3
Maverick Viñales showed immediate speed after joining KTM, despite his 2025 season being interrupted by injury. Now fully fit, his role in 2026 extends beyond results, as he contributes experience and technical feedback as KTM fine-tunes the RC16 ahead of the rules reset.
Maverick Viñales
“Last year was a great experience for me: I needed to understand many things in a very short period of timebut after two races I started to understand the bike, how it works, so I was able to be competitive very quickly. Then we had the crash in Sachsenring. There were two or three ways to recover but we needed to discover which one was the best for my shoulder, for my type of injury, and the guys in the Red Bull APC helped me to follow a way to recover quicker. Now, I feel that I have a big responsibility to make this project a winning project. This is something really nice because I always feel that when I have this type of pressure – when I have this type of responsibility – I am at my best. So, I’m ready to ‘eat’! I have a lot of energy for this year.”
Maverick Viñales – Red Bull KTM Tech3With pre-season testing beginning at Sepang, followed by Buriram and the Thai Grand Prix season opener, KTM’s attention will be split between maximising 2026 performance and laying groundwork for the 2027 regulations.
